Why the North American Deer Slam Club

I put the North American Deer Slam Club in place for two reasons: One, I love to hunt deer, more than any other species. I haven’t hunted all North American game species but there is something special about a deer! Two, I believe anyone can achieve the North American Deer Slam, if they have the desire. This is not true of many of the other slams, such as the Grand Slam of Sheep, or the Super Slam. The cost is prohibitive to 99% of the people in this country. Here is an example. One of my best friends is an eye surgeon, he makes millions of dollars per year. He hasn’t finished his Sheep slam because he can’t draw a desert sheep tag and to buy it would cost him over $50,000. He’ll pay it if he has to but he thinks he’ll draw the tag after 20 years of bonus points. The Super Slam has always been a goal of mine, but unless I become rich real quick it will never happen for me. So why not have a club where everyone has the opportunity, to achieve the goal! Thus the North American Deer Slam Club.What will it cost to complete this slam? It depends on how dedicated you are. All five species can be taken on public land, with non-resident tags. Some will be more difficult than others but it can be done. So the price of an airplane ticket and a nonresident deer tag and you are in the game! There are five species of deer in the North American Deer Slam Club: Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Coues Deer, Columbia Blacktail deer, and Sitka Blacktail deer. Whitetail deer are the most plentiful, you can hunt these beauties in almost any state in the US and Canada. Mule deer are the next most plentiful, you can hunt muleys in almost any WESTERN state in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Coues deer, are a subspecies of whitetail, they are only found in Arizona and New Mexico in the US and mainly Sonora and Chiuhuahua in old Mexico. Columbia Blacktail are found in Northern California, Oregon, and Washington in the US. Sitka Blacktail are found in British Columbia, CAN, and Alaska. North American Deer Slam Club has awards in various catagories: All Species Award: All species (doe or buck) with any weapon or animal kill (found dead). Slam Awards: All species (buck) rifle, All species (buck) muzzleloader, All species (buck) bow. Trophy Slam: Trophy bucks with a rifle, Trophy bucks with a muzzleloader, Trophy bucks with a bow. Ultimate Slam of North American Deer – Any buck with all weapons (15 deer) Super Slam of North American Deer – Trophy buck with all weapons (15 deer)  North American Deer Slam Club has its own scoring method. I believe that mass is very under rated in all the current major scoring methods. So our system gives a higher weight to mass. See the Parker Scoring System for Deer. In the awards we will be using our system for trophy categories. So we have awards, from the simple to the very difficult, the only limit is your time and effort. Money is not the limiting factor in North American Deer Slam Club! So join us today and let the hunts begin!
